If you are reading this post, then a very big welcome into 2017. We hope to have a very fruitful and goal fulfilling year ahead.
This is my first post for the year and to introduce to you a way to meet other naturalistas, whether transitioning or fully natural.
Here is our first Naturalista feature and someone who inspired me to go natural😀. Read on.....

Can we meet you?
Hey y'all. I'm Jubilee Abuajah. An entrepreneur, music lover, social worker, hair enthusiast, and a Pharmacist.
cisca kinksHow long have you been natural and what prompted you?
I've been natural for 3 years now and
what prompted me to go natural was that when I was relaxed I used relaxers just twice and I had healthy hair. So I just thought there was no need to continue, and then I ditched the relaxers. I was also motivated to go natural by my friend; Oriyomi Ogedengbe.

What do you think is your hair type?
My hair is coarse and dense, and tightly coiled , so most likely 4C.

What are your holy grail products?
Whipped Shea butter with Castor oil, coconut oil, Grapeseed oil, and olive oil , Essential oils( I always have Lavender and Eucalyptus oils in my purse)♥, Leave-in-conditioner, and Black soap.

Do you have a hair regimen? If you do, what does it entail?
I'm a lazy natural, so I don't stick to a particular regimen. But when I'm all hyped up, here's how it goes:
I finger detangle and put my hair in 4 chunky twists, then I wash with Natural Nigerian Black soap, and deep condition with Vitale Olive oil mayonnaise mixed with coconut oil for 30 minutes. Condition with Dove naturals 5 minutes heat defense conditioner, then I rinse out after 5 minutes and wrap my hair with my old T-shirt. When my hair is almost dry, I apply my leave-in-conditioner, my whipped Shea butter+ Lavender oil+Tea tree oil, and twist my hair in 8 parts in preparation for my next protective style.

What challenges have you experienced in your natural hair journey?
1. Laziness, which leads to lack of motivation, which leads to leaving my hair to be so shrunken and dry and filled with knots.
2. Poor stylists in my area, though this has encouraged me to learn how to make my own hair.
3. Choosing a next protective style, because too many beautiful styles out there.

What are your go to styles?
High puff and faux bun, and African threading.

Have you had comments about your hair, positive or negative?
Negative comments come basically from ignorant hair stylists, but I've gotten loads of positive comments. I've big chopped hair for more than 10 people because they believe in the healthy hair journey. And many people tell me that I inspire them. It's a beautiful thing!

Any words for newbie naturals?
  • Love your hair!!
  • Believe in your own hair journey, everyone has their own growth rates, don't judge your growth rate with another.
  • Be after a healthy hair journey and not just length.
  • Do what you want with your hair!!! Enjoy your hair!!! I'm a colour freak and I colour my hair a lot, I'm also scissor happy and may feel like cutting my hair to a particular length.
  • Don't go with the flow, don't use products because everyone else is using them, get products that work for you!!
  • You mustn't use hair multivitamins, no you mustn't! And always ask your pharmacist if you must.
  • Water!!! I can't over emphasize this. It helps not only in your healthy hair journey, but it prevents many diseases and infections.
  • Do not manipulate your hair too much.
  • Love yourself!!! A healthy self esteem and a healthy hair, perfect!!
