ACTIVATED CHARCOAL: FOR FACE AND TEETH

cisca kinks

This is one stuff I think many people overlook probably because of its staining property...but it has a lot of wonderful benefits from taking care of food poisoing, indigestion, diarhhea and bloating, to whitening of teeth and taking care of acne. It is quite becoming popular in the cosmetic industry and can be found in some skin care products.
ACTIVATED CHARCOAL also known as ACTIVATED CARBON is a form of carbon that has been processed to increase the surface area available for adsorption and/or chemical reactions
(wiki). This is one ingredient to include in your facial regimen of which I detailed mine in this post, and also your Oral care if you do not mind. It works by adsorbing toxins, dirt, chemicals...etc.
Be sure that the activated charcoal you get is a fine powder as anything other than fine can be quite abrasive to your face and teeth.

HOW TO USE
For Face: As a face mask, this helps to detoxify your skin especially if you have acne prone skin. You can do this twice a week.
  • Get about half a teapoon and transfer into a small bowl of your choice, add half a teaspoon of any natural clay of your choice (I use bentonite clay, binds to my activated charcoal really well).
  • Then add drops of water till a paste is formed.
  • Apply on your face with a flat makeup brush.
  • Allow to completely dry and then rinse out.
For tooth whitening: This helps to bind and remove stains such as wine, tobacco and tea stains. This can be done twice a week as well especially on weekends.
If you make your own toothpaste, you can incorporate this in your natural toothpaste recipe but if you don't, you can use it this way (the method below is what I use as I have become more of a tea drinker in recent times).
  • Apply your toothpaste on your toothbrush,
  • Then dip lightly in activated charcoal powder,
  • Brush your teeth and rinse out thoroughly.
Be sure not to inhale these powder and note this...don't say I didn't warn you, activated charcoal is quite messy and stains so take care when you want to use it.
