DIY AYURVEDA HAIR TREATMENT on 4C Hair

Cisca-kinks
Hmmm, I have gradually been introducing ayuverda treatments in my natural haircare regimen. In this post, I am going to share with you my recipe.
After a lot of research online, I found a recipe on KLS Naturals website which I modified and with what I have in my stash, I came up with this list of ingredients to use.
  • 6 tablespoon of fenugreek powder
  • 2 tablespoon of brahmi powder
  • 2 tablespoon of amla powder
  • 2 tablespoon of henna powder
  • A handful of dried hibiscus petals
  • 7.5 mL of my hibiscus infused soya oil, 7.5 mL of my oil mix (a lot of oils in there) and 15 mL of loreal scalp relief treatment.

Mixing time
I sieve my powders first to remove any large particles and mix overnight in an aqueous mixture of hibiscus (I mix the hibiscus petals in hot water and extracted the liquid) in a glass bowl.
I cover with a cling film and allow to sit till the following day. The next day I add my oils and scalp relief treatment, mix it up and it is ready for application.
Adding fenugreek to this mix and leaving it overnight helps to release the mucilage from the fenugreek and this makes application very smooth and easy.

Application
After applying the mix to my hair in sections, I cover with a plastic bag for 45 minutes and rinsed my hair out under fast running water. This is important so as to get all the grainy stuff out (Had to rinse my hair multiple times, just 3 times sha).
My hair is of medium length (about bra strap) so I exhausted everything in the bowl. So you can adjust the measurement of the powders based on the length of your hair and also the consistency that you want.

My take
My hair felt super great after this treatment. You need a lot of water though to rinse everything all out completely if you have type 4 hair like mine as particles tend to get get stuck within our kinks. If it is your first time trying this, you may be a little frustrated but with time you will figure out how to get the particles all out. The rinsing part is why I do not use Ayurveda powders a lot in my hair treatment. But I know I am going to get used to it. I have also listed some ayurveda powders and their benefits to hair in this post.
