bra-strap-length-natural-hair
Hello everyone, been a while right?
In this post I will be sharing with you how I grew my hair to the length that it is now. If you have been following my videos on my YouTube channel, you should know where that is already. I also did a video on this topic as well but hey, let me share this here especially for those that don't do videos but still I will link the video  at the bottom of this post.

These are the tips I have been using and I have incorporated some along the way in my Natural Hair Journey.

DIY AYURVEDA HAIR TREATMENT on 4C Hair

Cisca-kinks
Hmmm, I have gradually been introducing ayuverda treatments in my natural haircare regimen. In this post, I am going to share with you my recipe.

ORANGE PEEL POWDER in SKINCARE

cisca-kinks
Orange is one of the fruits in the citrus family that of course is very beneficial to the human body from pulp to peels even the seeds. When we consume the juice and fibres in it, we throw the peels away not knowing of its amazing benefits to our skin...chai!! (I just had to exclaim...lol, like I wish I knew a long long time ago but oh well...)
So more deets....Orange peel has a very high amount of vitamin C amidst other phytonutrients and flavonoids and because of this, it has a lot of applications in skincare๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡.

Stimulate Hair growth through Scalp massage

One of the hair care tips I have researched on a lot  that will stimulate hair growth is scalp massage. oh yea! I am sure y'all have heard of it. I am just too lazy to use my fingers which won't even last upto 5 minutes so I decided to get a helper to assist me on my scalp massage journey...lol.

CUT DOWN WASH DAY BY HALF USING A PORTABLE HAIR STEAMER.

Portable Hair Steamer
Heyy people, Long time no post and a happy new month to y'all.
I want to share with you how I have been able to cut down my wash day routine.
Wash days for me has most times been the entire day from prepoo to deep conditioning, moisturising and then styling. The parts in my routine that takes the most time is the prepoo and deep conditioning part. Now I can cut the timing when it comes to that portion of my wash day with my

AYUVERDA POWDERS / CLAYS AND THEIR BENEFITS FOR NATURAL HAIR

I stumbled on this youtube video titled "Ayuverda for beast mode" and I was like whaaat!! which one is beast mode again?
I watch youtube videos a lot and hey I also have a youtube myself, so go SUBSCRIBE ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š. But after watching a lot of videos that claim to grow hair overnight (that was in the past tho...lol) I decided not to watch this one 'cos I interpreted this one as "one of those overnight hair growth videos. Fast forward two days later, a friend of mine sent me a link to that same video and I decided to watch it and I am glad I did. Post watching that video, I came up with a list of ayuverda treatments for hair,

DIY OKRA DETANGLER FOR NATURAL HAIR

Have you tried detangling your hair especially if you 4c kinky hair like mine and you almost ended up ripping out your hair. I never wanted to try this because "why would I want to put okra in my hair" but recently, I decided to try it and it passed well beyond my expectations (Of course it may not work for everyone's hair but you wouldn't know until you try it out). My hair felt soft the first time and the second time I used it to detangle my hair, I basically turned it into a prepoo treatment.

You already know what it is from the blog post's picture but if you don't, it is OKRA (also known as Lady's finger/Gumbo)....Yesso, that slimy okra used to make very delicious delicacies in this part of the world.
I am going to share with you how to prepare a detangler out of it as well as how I used it to detangle my hair.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL: FOR FACE AND TEETH

cisca kinks

This is one stuff I think many people overlook probably because of its staining property...but it has a lot of wonderful benefits from taking care of food poisoing, indigestion, diarhhea and bloating, to whitening of teeth and taking care of acne. It is quite becoming popular in the cosmetic industry and can be found in some skin care products.

Hi everyone,
It has been on my mind to make my own wig so I purchased some wig making tools sometime last year and got around to making a crochet wig right here (going to change that into a proper wig). But since then, I haven't really done much making wigs.
I see wigs as a form of protective style

How I got my "Hair in Puff" to stay moisturized.

Hey guys,
I styled my hair in a puff throughout last week, but I knew in my heart that I will have to deal with tangles because of how tightly coiled my hair is (If there's a 4d texture, my hair will probably fall in that category). Shrinkage is a norm when my hair is not twisted or braided, I guess it's that for everybody with kinky hair.
I am going to share with you how I got my puff to stay moisturized (The length of time I carried the style was a week).
The first thing I do to my hair after getting back from work is to tie the base of the hair round with a chiffon scarf.

It's Been 3 Years Since Big Chop!

March 26th 2017 officially made it 3 years since I did the big chop. I never believed I will come this far with my hair growth and yea, I intend going farther....

Taking care of Natural hair from the inside.

The health of your hair does not solely depend on what to apply externally on your hair. It is also dependent on what you feed your body and your body requires nutrients which enters the blood stream, nourishes your hair follicles and stimulates hair growth under the dermis.
N.B: The hair outside the dermis is actually dead so what we do on the outside is to prevent breakage and retain length.....

My Facials Routine

Towards the end of last year, I discovered that I have a tough, oily, acne prone skin which has not been receptive to most treatments I have tried in the past. I was having this bad breakout that refused to go away though acne has been with me since puberty. I decided to do something about my skincare after attending NITC 17 and NITC 18 is tomorrow so watch this space ✌...

MY PRE-WASH DAY EXPERIENCE

Textured puff from a chunky twistout this weekend
STORY TIME......
Hi loves, I had an experience while preparing for wash day this past weekend and I felt I should share. This is somewhat related to pre -pooing too. Sometimes I finger detangle during the pre-poo process and sometimes I do not (I talked about prepooing in my last post here). I decided to use the Kui leave-in conditioning mist to detangle but the first section of my hair wasn't behaving and my ends felt scraggly. I went ahead to do the second section and

Rice Water Rinse on Natural Hair

cisca kinks

I have been experimenting on my hair with ingredients from the kitchen and I must say the results have been worthwhile.
I didn't want the onion juice post to be lengthy (if you missed it click here)  that's the reason I didn't combine both but they were done on the same day.
After watching Green Beauty Channel's video on rice water,

Prepoo-ing Your Hair With Onion Juice | Benefits

cisca kinks
I have been hesitant when it comes to using products available in the kitchen for natural hair, reason being that it requires time to prepare because they are not available to just slap unto your hair. I decided to give it a trial since one of my hair goals for 2017 is maintaining healthy hair without breaking the bank.
I tried using onion juice (and rice water - post for another day) this past weekend so let's get into the details.

Finger detangling - Time consuming but BENEFICIAL.

I was contemplating not putting up this post but changed my mind 'cos I want y'all to benefit from my experiences. When you see this massive ball of hair,  you can't but wonder from whose head it came.
This is not to scare you but to encourage you to put your hair-care practices / routine in order. I don't think I have been finger detangling properly 'cos this amount of shed/tangled/broken hairs!

How I Restored my Edges/Hairline.

Twists with "Brazilian wool"
A lot of ladies complain about their edges receding and this may be attributed to our hair care practices. We use all sort of tools, protective styling techniques with or without extensions that can make our hair jump out of our scalp or perform a disappearing act.

DIY - Satin Bonnet

Hey lovelies๐Ÿ˜„ and welcome to the new week!
If you have been following me on the blog you will know  that sometimes I do DIY's. Below is a video on how to make a lined satin bonnet / cap that you can wear on both sides. I had a remnant of the black satin fabric while the brown one cost N160 for half a yard. You would likely get a satin bonnet for the price of about N1000 or N1500 plus delivery price...whoohoo! I just  couldn't deal so I decided to make one.  If interested in making a satin cap,

Washing Natural 4C Hair in Twists vs Braids.

Hey guys, I recently tried out something which I have now fully incorporated into my hair routine. Throughout my natural hair journey until now, I have always washed my hair in twists either after my deep conditioning process in which I usually twist the deep conditioner in or a week or two post deep-conditioning, when my hair has accumulated a little dirt and it itches.

Natural hair Product Faves'.

Finding the right products for your Natural hair may be a bit daunting. Maybe it's because of the different curl pattern on each individual head, or the fact that you can't test the product on your hair before buying (except you get sample products). Getting the right one is just a matter of trial and error. I have tried these products below and found them to be really really good for my hair, and they are in no particular order.

This is a Nigerian brand and I love eeet!. Maybe 'cos it smells like icecream and yes...it does its job of deep conditioning my hair, leaving it in a mushy mushy mood๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜....Lol

Benefits of Cucumber Water!

I recently discovered that I could sweeten my water with cucumber slices....Yes! cucumber. Before that I either chew it alone, eat in combination with other fruits or chop it in cubes and eat with Nigerian Jollof or white rice and stew. Cucumber has a lot of health benefits so for those who do not like the fruit itself, you can cut some slices in a glass of water, refrigerate for some time to infuse and drink up!
